Summer is in full effect in late August here in Chicago – boy is it HOT! This past weekend, my girlfriend and blogger extrodanaire Annie over at Give Me Meatloaf and I got together for a Sunday-Funday brunch. Annie put together a delicious Mexican-style savory breakfast hash with all the necessary fixings such as salsa, avocado, cheeses and jalapeños. It definitely hit the spot, especially since we’re both lovers of Mexican food! Continue reading “Rum-Funfetti Cake & Tropical Fruit Layered Dessert”

Lemon-Raspberry Coffee Cake
I love coffee cakes because of the obvious – they go so well with coffee! It’s a tradition at the art studio for the students to share in a potluck at the end of each class session. Most sessions last 10 weeks and are full of meeting new people, learning new techniques about pottery, and learning new things about life in general often times. What I love about our potlucks is that you get to see peoples cooking/baking talents. Most people also opt to serve their potluck dishes in their own artwork they’ve created which is also super fun! For this rounds potluck, I chose this Lemon-Raspberry Coffee Cake! Continue reading “Lemon-Raspberry Coffee Cake”
Strawberry-Rhubarb Scones
I’m back! 2018 has been a busy year for me so far with a lot of changes so I wanted to take a moment to share some updates…
This year has been full of so much time and energy being invested into my Reiki/Yoga practice and building up my art inventory. I currently take clients there 1 day a week for a variety of services including Reiki, private Yoga & Meditation and aromatherapy. Part of my time has been spent managing and marketing my practice as I am building a clientele. Continue reading “Strawberry-Rhubarb Scones”

BUT, this recipe can easily be doubled to share with all of the ones you love. Continue reading “Dark Chocolate Cake with Fresh Raspberry Buttercream”
Croatian Almond Crescent Cookies
Almond crescent cookies are another staple in our Croatian Christmas cookie baking day! These pretty little snowy crescent moons are another sweet treat that are prefect for a morning cup of coffee or post-dinner espresso. Speaking of espresso, in the afternoons, we often enjoyed Bosnian coffee (or Turkish coffee) together and these cookies are a perfect hint of sweet to the strong coffee flavor. Fun fact… this is also the same type of coffee that’s used in fortune telling. When the cup is finished, the left over grounds at the bottom form patterns called tasseomancy that is interpreted. Croatian Walnut Kifle Cookies
Kifle cookies are so darn good. We make two different kinds every year during our annual Croatian Cookie baking day. One is from a secret recipe that’s filled with a plum or apricot jam – these are SO good when you eat them fresh from the oven. The jam is warm and the dough is flaky and oh so tasty. The second kifle recipe we make is filled with a walnut mixture and rolled in powdered sugar. These sweet little treats goes perfect with a cup of coffee.
