If you’re looking for an easy win to bake for your Val(Gal)entines this year – this is it! This blondie recipe brings the tangy zest of cream-cheese, and the sweet and tart combination of the chocolate and raspberry all into one for on of my favorite flavor combinations. It doesn’t take long to prepare, is easy to bake and turns out delicious every time! Continue reading “Chocolate-Raspberry Cream-Cheese Blondie”
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Today’s recipe is for my husband Aaron – he’s a big football fan and loves all things sugar and Bourbon. It’s tradition that we stay in for the Super Bowl (usually Chicago gets hit with a huge snow storm on this day every year), and we prepare our favorite snacks together and welcome whoever wants to join us! Typically our spread consists of wings, homemade pretzels & dips, buffalo chicken dip, charcuterie, and some sort of sweet treat. This years sweet treats are Orange-Cardamom Sugar Cookies with Bourbon. Continue reading “Orange-Cardamom Sugar Cookies with Bourbon”
I love coffee cakes because of the obvious – they go so well with coffee! It’s a tradition at the art studio for the students to share in a potluck at the end of each class session. Most sessions last 10 weeks and are full of meeting new people, learning new techniques about pottery, and learning new things about life in general often times. What I love about our potlucks is that you get to see peoples cooking/baking talents. Most people also opt to serve their potluck dishes in their own artwork they’ve created which is also super fun! For this rounds potluck, I chose this Lemon-Raspberry Coffee Cake! Continue reading “Lemon-Raspberry Coffee Cake”
Kifle cookies are so darn good. We make two different kinds every year during our annual Croatian Cookie baking day. One is from a secret recipe that’s filled with a plum or apricot jam – these are SO good when you eat them fresh from the oven. The jam is warm and the dough is flaky and oh so tasty. The second kifle recipe we make is filled with a walnut mixture and rolled in powdered sugar. These sweet little treats goes perfect with a cup of coffee. This holiday season, if you’re looking for a quick and easy cookie to share with your loved ones, try a spritz cookie! You can take the spritz cookie in the classic route with a butter-vanilla flavor, or you can spice it up like I did! I made a warm, ginger-spiced spritz cookie to add to our cookie collection this year. My sister-in-laws got me one of these lovely Wilton spritz cookie makers for a Christmas gift last year and I love it. There’s something so fun and satisfying about pressing out these perfectly beautiful stamped cookies! 🙂 This recipe was modified from the Wilton cookie recipe book that comes with the spritz cookie tool. This year post Croatian Christmas Cooking baking day, I’m probably the most excited about this cookie, Madarica! If you haven’t read my previous post yet, give it a quick read for insight into this lovely family tradition and what it has in store for this year!
Madarica was a new Croatian cookie that I have never tried before, so it was a new baking adventure for mom and I. In Croatian, this translates to “Hungarian Lady” as the recipe was brought over from a Hungary Lady and therefore the name stuck. They are also called “Hungarian Squares” Continue reading “Madarica (Hungarian Layered Squares)”
