It’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving recipes, can you believe it?! I love chocolate and pecan pies, and my husband loves bourbon so it was only a matter of time before this little dessert party happened. For Thanksgiving/Christmas, I typically like to bring pecan pie to share with family and friends. This year, we’ll be hosting our first Thanksgiving and I think this recipe makes for a great little twist to the classic pecan pie. If you want to go sans bourbon too, you’re still going to end up with a super yummy dessert! Depending on the size of your tart pan, this recipe will either make 2 medium-sized tarts, or 1 large. The cool thing about using a medium-sized tart pan is that you could keep one of the tarts classic or bourbon-free, while the other tart has the bourbon-chocolate party going on. Butternut Squash Galette
Tis the season for butternut squash! I’ve been learning lately that butternut squash can be so versatile. I’ve been adding it to my chili which adds a slight sweetness to balance out the heat which has become a new favorite of mine. You can also puree it to create sweet pies or tarts, or toss it in a Galette. Galette’s are becoming a new comfort food for me during lunch time, and I love to keep them quick and easy by using pre-made pie crust. Continue reading “Butternut Squash Galette”
Pumpkin Spice Cookies
Do you ever have the craving to make some super cute cut-out cookies, but you don’t want to go the sugar cookie route? Well that’s how I was feeling, and I wanted to make some tasty fall-inspired cookies of course, so that’s where the pumpkin spice comes in!
A couple of weeks ago, Aaron, my brother Michael and I took a trip to our lake house in Frankfort, and the Crystal Lake Alpaca Farm was celebrating “National Alpaca Farm Day”. What’s that you might ask? Well it was a day to celebrate these adorable animals and support the farm for all that they do in caring and raising Alpacas. Continue reading “Pumpkin Spice Cookies”
Parmesan, Goat Cheese & Asparagus Galette
If you’re looking for a super yummy, savory and quick treat this is a must try! It’s a perfect savory breakfast side, appetizer or lunch snack. I made this for Aaron and I for an afternoon snack today while I baked other goodies as he worked from home. It’s just so darn good I will definitely be adding this as a more frequent item for us to enjoy! Continue reading “Parmesan, Goat Cheese & Asparagus Galette”
Spiced Apple & Pear Upside Down Cake
I’m back in the kitchen just in time for my favorite season of baking… FALL<3! You may have wondered where I’ve been?! Well, in early August I travelled to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica to become a certified Yoga Instructor, and I just returned a few days ago. It was an absolutely incredible journey that forever transformed my life in ways that I cannot describe. I expanded my soul family, learned so much about myself and Yoga, got to be submerged in a beautiful surrounding, and was nourished daily with comforting food AND fabulous desserts! Cherry Chocolate Chunk Cookies + Girls Weekend in Pure Michigan!
It’s been a week since I got back from my lovely long girls weekend with my Mom and Aunt Michele in Frankfort, MI, and boy did we have a wonderful time – I can’t wait to do it all again next year!!!
One of the things we did on the first day was visit North Star Organics cherry farm nearby. This farm is so charming and beautiful and they were actually featured in a beautiful spread in Martha Stewart Living which was neat to see! They had both sweet and sour cherries, so we decided to do some fresh picking of red and white sweet cherries – these cherries are seriously so good and fresh. Not only did they have super yummy fresh cherries, but they have awesome dried cherries too that I decided I wanted to bake in a classic chocolate chip cookie.
