Mom’s here for a fun-filled Mother’s Day weekend in Chicago and I couldn’t be more happy to have her here! We walked around in Lincoln Park this afternoon and had lunch together. When we left the restaurant, she caught notice of a French Macaron shop, so I asked if she’d be interested in making them ourselves this afternoon instead – so that’s what we did! We made French Macarons filled with salted caramel buttercream that we dipped in dark chocolate, then dipped in praline crumble – YUM, this was seriously so good!! Does rosemary & olive oil ice-cream sound totally weird to you? It did to me at first. One of the first dates Aaron and I went on while we were dating long distance between Chicago and LA was to RPM Italian in Chicago. We loved their food and atomosphere from the start, so this became a regular date-night spot for the two of us. During one of our visits, they had a special gelato for the night – flavored with rosemary, olive oil and sea salt. I thought to myself – this is weird, but I also love rosemary and this is probably super good – and it’s literally one of my most favorite flavor combinations now. Hoppy Easter! What a beautiful weekend in Chicago, I hope it’s as lovely as it is here where you are!
It’s been just over a year since we’ve moved into our home-sweet-home in Chicago… just in time for Easter. Last year during Easter, my dad and his wife came to spend the holiday with us and they’ve come back to join us again this year with their two new puppies! Typically during the Holidays we’re off to visit our families in Michigan, so I’m grateful for new traditions in our own home. We will have a house full of family, friends and fur babies to share Easter dinner and dessert with. Continue reading “Classic Carrot Cake”
IT’S PI(E) DAY! What a great reason to bake a warm homemade pie right?!
Life has been a little crazy these days and I haven’t been able to dedicate the right energy and time my baking deserves the past few weeks, but this pie brought everything back into place in the best ways. I’m grateful for this sweet little pie for this reason. It turned out so pretty, smelling like heaven, and delicious so I can’t wait to share this recipe with you! Happy Pi(e) Day! It’s time for another “Dip Party” at the office with my work fam! All “Dip Parties” need dessert dips right?! I found this super quick, easy, and delicious recipe for a Cannoli Dip from all recipes – I highly suggest you try it during your next party! Continue reading “Quick Cannoli Dip”
Happy Sunday! It’s starting to warm up a bit here in Chicago so I’m looking forward to getting outside a bit more today. Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait to enjoy it with some new outdoor projects around the house, planting herbs and flowers, and playing outside with Zoey.
Last night we had plans to attend our friends housewarming party, and I received a special request to bring Aaron’s famous chocolate chip cookies (don’t worry, I’ll blog this soon), and my moms famous cheesecake. With Spring approaching, I decided to put a little spring twist on moms original recipe with the addition of more lemon flavoring and a graham cracker-streusel topping!
