This holiday season, if you’re looking for a quick and easy cookie to share with your loved ones, try a spritz cookie! You can take the spritz cookie in the classic route with a butter-vanilla flavor, or you can spice it up like I did! I made a warm, ginger-spiced spritz cookie to add to our cookie collection this year. My sister-in-laws got me one of these lovely Wilton spritz cookie makers for a Christmas gift last year and I love it. There’s something so fun and satisfying about pressing out these perfectly beautiful stamped cookies! 🙂 This recipe was modified from the Wilton cookie recipe book that comes with the spritz cookie tool. Madjarica (Hungarian Layered Squares)
This year post Croatian Christmas Cooking baking day, I’m probably the most excited about this cookie, Madarica! If you haven’t read my previous post yet, give it a quick read for insight into this lovely family tradition and what it has in store for this year!
Madarica was a new Croatian cookie that I have never tried before, so it was a new baking adventure for mom and I. In Croatian, this translates to “Hungarian Lady” as the recipe was brought over from a Hungary Lady and therefore the name stuck. They are also called “Hungarian Squares” Continue reading “Madjarica (Hungarian Layered Squares)”
Holiday-Spiced New York Style Cheesecake
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas is right around the corner! For thanksgiving this year, my husband and I hosted for the first time which I was so excited about. We had lovely company over… we had fun, wonderful conversation and shared so much gratitude together. I was so impressed, and a little surprised with the menu my husband and I put together, and how fantastic it all turned out!! It was such a rewarding experience to cook nourishing and yummy foods for people I love on such a special day where we give thanks. Continue reading “Holiday-Spiced New York Style Cheesecake”
Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Tart
It’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving recipes, can you believe it?! I love chocolate and pecan pies, and my husband loves bourbon so it was only a matter of time before this little dessert party happened. For Thanksgiving/Christmas, I typically like to bring pecan pie to share with family and friends. This year, we’ll be hosting our first Thanksgiving and I think this recipe makes for a great little twist to the classic pecan pie. If you want to go sans bourbon too, you’re still going to end up with a super yummy dessert! Depending on the size of your tart pan, this recipe will either make 2 medium-sized tarts, or 1 large. The cool thing about using a medium-sized tart pan is that you could keep one of the tarts classic or bourbon-free, while the other tart has the bourbon-chocolate party going on. Parmesan, Goat Cheese & Asparagus Galette
If you’re looking for a super yummy, savory and quick treat this is a must try! It’s a perfect savory breakfast side, appetizer or lunch snack. I made this for Aaron and I for an afternoon snack today while I baked other goodies as he worked from home. It’s just so darn good I will definitely be adding this as a more frequent item for us to enjoy! Continue reading “Parmesan, Goat Cheese & Asparagus Galette”
Spiced Apple & Pear Upside Down Cake
I’m back in the kitchen just in time for my favorite season of baking… FALL<3! You may have wondered where I’ve been?! Well, in early August I travelled to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica to become a certified Yoga Instructor, and I just returned a few days ago. It was an absolutely incredible journey that forever transformed my life in ways that I cannot describe. I expanded my soul family, learned so much about myself and Yoga, got to be submerged in a beautiful surrounding, and was nourished daily with comforting food AND fabulous desserts!
