Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Today’s recipe is for my husband Aaron – he’s a big football fan and loves all things sugar and Bourbon. It’s tradition that we stay in for the Super Bowl (usually Chicago gets hit with a huge snow storm on this day every year), and we prepare our favorite snacks together and welcome whoever wants to join us! Typically our spread consists of wings, homemade pretzels & dips, buffalo chicken dip, charcuterie, and some sort of sweet treat. Summer is in full effect in late August here in Chicago – boy is it HOT! This past weekend, my girlfriend and blogger extrodanaire Annie over at Give Me Meatloaf and I got together for a Sunday-Funday brunch. Today I have a savory, homemade baked treat that’s perfect for a Super Bowl party – pretzel bites. I have been craving soft, warm pretzels lately so I’m super excited to make some of my own.
I found this yummy pretzel bite + cheesy jalapeño dipping sauce combination on Pinterest from CarlsbadCravings which she adapted from Alton Brown. I followed this recipe exactly for the pretzels (and they turned out amazing), and I modified the cheese dip sauce which you can see below.
