I’m back in the kitchen just in time for my favorite season of baking… FALL<3! You may have wondered where I’ve been?! Well, in early August I travelled to the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica to become a certified Yoga Instructor, and I just returned a few days ago. It was an absolutely incredible journey that forever transformed my life in ways that I cannot describe. I expanded my soul family, learned so much about myself and Yoga, got to be submerged in a beautiful surrounding, and was nourished daily with comforting food AND fabulous desserts! It’s been a week since I got back from my lovely long girls weekend with my Mom and Aunt Michele in Frankfort, MI, and boy did we have a wonderful time – I can’t wait to do it all again next year!!!
One of the things we did on the first day was visit North Star Organics cherry farm nearby. This farm is so charming and beautiful and they were actually featured in a beautiful spread in Martha Stewart Living which was neat to see! They had both sweet and sour cherries, so we decided to do some fresh picking of red and white sweet cherries – these cherries are seriously so good and fresh. Not only did they have super yummy fresh cherries, but they have awesome dried cherries too that I decided I wanted to bake in a classic chocolate chip cookie. I’m on a crumble kick right now! I put this recipe together not quite knowing how successful it would be, but I must say it’s pretty darn good and combines some of my favorite flavors and textures. Yesterday was quite the baking adventure filled with blunders, however I had some furry friends keeping me company and making me smile!
Happy 4th of July week! We love the 4th of July festivities; except when the dog panic ensues over the fireworks of course :(. I grew up boating with my family every 4th of July and each year I couldn’t wait for the fun it would bring. We would grab some friends and fireworks, anchor our boat to Sugar Island in Lake Erie, then BBQ and camp out for long weekends. Since Aaron and I got together, I’ve joined in on his tradition of a long weekend in Frankfort with friends and family filled with bonfires and a trip down the Platte river on a kayak. I’m grateful for new and old traditions that create lasting memories and I’m looking forward to this years adventures. ❤ Continue reading “Raspberry Crumb Cake”
Happy Sunday friends! It’s sure feeling like summer here in Chicago (and Michigan)! Perfect weather for my favorite summer dessert pie – Key Lime pie. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who doesn’t like Key Lime pie?!
This lucky little pie was made with love to share <3. Our dear friends recently got engaged, so yesterday we celebrated their future together sharing in good company, laughter and Key Lime pie.
I love Martha Stewarts Key Lime pie recipe below and I highly recommend you give it a try! Continue reading “Classic Key Lime Pie”
Happy Monday, I hope your week is off to a good start! This morning I had a major craving for Chocolate Chip Scones which is my favorite breakfast treat but something I don’t have often. For years I’ve had all sorts of silly digestion problems that a healthier diet has made a big difference on (more organic foods, less Gluten/processed junk, etc.), so sometimes it’s nice to toss in a Gluten-free baking recipe here and there for good measure. 🙂 Continue reading “Coconut, Chocolate-Chip Scones (Gluten-Free)”
